Introduction of High
Silicon Wear Resistant Cast Steel
The patented high silicon wear
resistant cast steel was authorized to produce under
the permission of Tsinghua University (ZL 99105704.X).
With silicon as the main alloying element, high silicon
wear resistant cast steel utilizes a new invented composition,
casting and heat treatment technique in the production.
The micro structure of high silicon wear resistant cast
steel is composed of austenite-bainite (A-B) or austenite-bainite-martensite
(A-B-M) phases. High silicon wear resistant cast steel
has many characteristics such as high strength, high
toughness, excellent wear and impact resistance etc.,
it is a new kind of wear resistant material substituting
for high manganese steel and high chromium cast iron.
Technical Specifications: Tensile
strength(σb)=1200~1800MPa; Yield strength(σ0.2) =1000~1600MPa;
Elongation(δ)≥5%; Impact toughness (αkV) ≥20J/cm2; Hardness
(HRc) =35~48 (before use) and 50~58(after impacting
and hardening).
Service Performance: The initial
hardness of high manganese steel is low, its wear resistance
depends totally on the work hardening effect in use.
The work hardening effect can not be fully accomplished
in the condition that the impact strength is not enough,
high manganese steel has short service life. High chromium
cast iron has high hardness and excellent wear resistance,
but its toughness is very low, it is apt to fracture
while bearing heavy impact loads. High silicon wear
resistant cast steel overcomes the shortcomings of high
manganese steel having low hardness and high chromium
cast iron having low toughness, it has high initial
hardness and better work hardening effect under impact
wear, its wear resistance and dependability are obviously
higher than that of high manganese steel and high chromium
cast iron, the service life can be raised by more than
one time.
Application Scopes: High silicon
wear resistant cast steel is mainly used for making
spare parts for crushing, excavating and grinding etc.
in metallurgy, mine, building materials, electricity
and chemical industries. The hammer and jaw plate of
crusher, the bucket tooth of digging machine and liner
of ball mill manufactured by this new material has excellent
service performance, the products have already been
sold to various provinces in China including Hong Kong.
